Sue Wong, the designer, loves her headgear, plunking parasols atop some models to be worn as hats, with beads hanging down from each spoke.
The red umbrella, symbol for the Travelers Group, and now the property of Citigroup, the world’s largest financial institution, including the 16-foot, 5,3000 pound steel sculpture at its Lower Manhattan offices, may be closed soon. The Citigroup has been meeting to close the red umbrella, and it would be the end of the red umbrella in my life since I was born in Hartford, CT where the Travelers’ Insurance Company was always there to employ us in our first jobs. Who would have guessed how umbrellas entered my life from that memory on!
